Mandy Yamanis, born and breed in Zimbabwe, is the Global Safeguarding Advisor for GOAL. As a Child Protection Specialist with over 15 years of experience and knowledge of child development, child protection and international development and emergency programming, she worked with World Vision International, in the Middle East and Eastern Europe Region, where she conceived and developed the idea for an innovative project called 'Keeping Children Safe Online', which was rolled out to 6 countries in the region, as well as Latin America and Africa. This project aimed to maximise the online opportunities for vulnerable children, youth and adults, whilst minimising the risk of harm associated with internet use
During the Greek refugee and migrant response in 2016, Mandy worked for Save the Children International as the Safeguarding Advisor. She then spent two years consulting, working on different projects such as creating a child friendly version of the Albanian National Agenda for Child Rights (NACR) 2017-2020, Coordinator for the Global Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Forum to End Violence against Children, Contracted by GCPS Consulting to strengthen Protection Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) for Global Communities, Gaziantep, Turkey and within Syria .
Mandy currently heads the Safeguarding team across the 13 countries that GOAL operates in. She has developed a global safeguarding strategy, action plan and minimum standards to drive the operational implementation and integration of safeguarding across GOAL’s systems, procedures and practices. Mandy also provides technical support for GOAL’s Protection projects in emergency and development programming.
