Laura is the Associate Dean (Equality and Diversity) for the College of Health and Life Sciences and a Reader in Sociology of Sport at Brunel University London. Her research focuses broadly on issues relating to sport, equality and social justice with specialisms in gender and qualitative methods of evaluation. Laura also has an ongoing interest in safeguarding and sport. She was on the research team that contributed to the development of the International Safeguards for Children in Sport and part of an investigation into child protection and the FIFA World Cup. She has worked with the English Football Association for the past ten years and this research has led to five changes to their national policy on mixed gender sport. As part of her interest in inclusion, Laura has worked with a number of charities seeking to use sport to improve the lives of young people including: Street League, StreetGames, and UsGirls.
